Simone Davis BA BSc DipCHM LicAc MBAcC Owner of Barefoot Medicine Acupuncture Clinic
I have been working in complementary therapies and natural medicines part time since 2001 but it was a personal tragedy that led me to leave the corporate environment and pursue my true passion in life and that is how I came about setting up Barefoot Medicine Acupuncture Clinic and establishing my full-time complementary therapy practice. Named after the Barefoot Doctors in China who were teachers as well as healers, I share their values of helping people to help themselves to heal. Using acupuncture, herbal remedies, massage, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion, nutrition, mindfulness including meditation and relaxation my goal is to get people back on track to achieving their full potential.
Whilst traditional values remain very important to me, I also believe that 5000 years of anecdotal evidence of the efficacy of Chinese Medicine should be balanced with the modern day evidence-based medicine and the knowledge that we have gained through scientific advances. For this reason, your treatment is likely to have a strong focus on outcome measures and therefore a baseline assessment will be undertaken during the initial consultation and results will be followed up every five sessions (although that may vary depending upon your condition).
I have been privileged to work for the British Acupuncture Council part time since 2014 as the Professional Development Lead for practitioner members across Wales, Herefordshire and Shropshire. This means that I assist other acupuncture practitioners with their CPD (continuing professional development) commitments and I also work with newly qualified acupuncturists or those returning to the profession who need advice and support in getting their business up-and-running. This also means that I have a lot of information about how we professionally run our clinic and this can be viewed via our Statement of Purpose, and you can find some of the specific segments of our Statement of Purpose on separate subsidiary pages within our About Section. statement-of-purpose-oct-2016
Outside my acupuncture clinic commitments, I have a wonderful family and children in secondary school. We spend a lot of time outdoors in nature, looking after our chickens and collecting their eggs daily! Walking, camping and going on meditation retreats. I also love salsa and tango dancing, I’m a PADI master SCUBA diver and have trained with SeaSearch for underwater ecological projects and I qualified as an underwater photographer in 2013. In 2014 I qualified as a permaculture designer with the renowned Geoff Lawton.
In my free time I have volunteered since 2010 with Cardiff and the Vale Veteran’s Mental Health Support Group because I have seen the benefits of Chinese medicine for military veterans with PTSD and other post-conflict mental health disorders in my own clinic and I strive to provide the clinical evidence that there are solutions above and beyond sleeping pills and antidepressants.
I treat a wide variety of people with an even wider variety of healthcare complaints. If I think Chinese medicine may not be right for you, then I will tell you right away, so if you are unsure, then please do get in touch for an informal chat and I will advise you accordingly.

In love and light
